Badminton rules are simple to learn but require speed, control and precision. Players must follow serving, rally and boundary rules to play correctly.

🏁 Starting the Game

• a match begins with a serve

• players decide who serves first (coin toss or rally)

• the server stands in the correct service court

🏸 Serving Rules

To make a legal serve:

• the shuttlecock must be hit below the waist

• the racket must point downward

• the serve must be hit underhand

• the shuttlecock must land in the correct service box

In doubles:

• serves are hit diagonally

• players rotate serving positions after winning points

🔄 Rally Rules

During a rally:

• the shuttlecock must pass over the net

• only one hit per side is allowed

• players must return it before it hits the ground

• A rally continues until a point is scored.

⚠️ Faults

A player loses the point if they:

• hit the shuttlecock out of bounds

• hit into the net

• hit the shuttlecock twice

• touch the net with their body or racket

• fail to serve correctly

📍 Boundaries

• the shuttlecock must land within the court lines

• different lines apply for singles and doubles

🔁 Service Rotation

• in singles, the server alternates based on score (even/odd sides)

• in doubles, players rotate serving positions

🏆 Winning the Game

• games are played to 21 points

• must win by 2 points

• matches are usually best of 3 games

⚡ Why Rules Matter

• fair play

• fast gameplay
