A volleyball court has standard dimensions used in both recreational and professional play. The court is rectangular and divided into two halves by a net.

📐 Court Dimensions

The official indoor volleyball court size is:

• length: 18 metres

• width: 9 metres

Each side of the court is 9 × 9 metres, separated by the net in the middle.

🏐 Net Height

The height of the net depends on the competition:

• men: 2.43 metres

• women: 2.24 metres

The net runs across the centre of the court and divides both teams.

📍 Court Layout

The volleyball court includes several important markings:

• centre line (under the net)

• attack line (3 metres from the net)

• baseline (back boundary)

• sidelines (side boundaries)

These lines define player positions and rules during play.

🔄 Front Court and Back Court

Each side of the court is divided into:

• front court (near the net)

• back court (behind the attack line)

This affects where players can attack and block from.

🏖️ Beach Volleyball Court

Beach volleyball uses a slightly smaller court:

• length: 16 metres

• width: 8 metres

This creates a faster and more physically demanding game on sand.

⚡ Why Court Size Matters

The size of the volleyball court affects:

• player positioning

• movement and spacing

• attacking and defensive strategies

Understanding the court layout helps players improve their awareness and performance.
