📜 Disc Golf Rules

Disc golf has simple rules that are easy to learn, making it a great sport for beginners. Players take turns throwing a disc toward a basket, aiming to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws.
🏁 Starting the Hole
Each hole begins from the tee area.
• Players must throw from within the tee area
• The player with the lowest score on the previous hole throws first
On the first hole, the order is usually decided randomly
🥏 Throwing the Disc
After the first throw:
• Players throw from where their disc lands
• The spot where the disc lands is called the lie
• Players may use a marker disc to mark their lie
🔄 Turn Order
The player whose disc is furthest from the basket throws next.
This continues until all players have completed the hole.
🏆 Completing the Hole
A hole is finished when:
• The disc lands inside the basket
• The disc is supported by the chains or comes to rest in the basket
Each throw counts as one stroke.
⚠️ Out of Bounds
If a disc lands out of bounds:
• A penalty throw may be added
• The player throws again from a designated spot
Out of bounds areas may include paths, water or marked zones.
🚫 Foot Faults
Players must follow proper throwing rules.
• At least one foot must be on or behind the lie when throwing
• Stepping past the lie before releasing the disc is a fault
🔢 Scoring Basics
Scoring is based on the number of throws:
• fewer throws = better score
• players aim to complete each hole under par
