🎯 Darts Equipment

Darts requires only a small amount of equipment, making it one of the most accessible sports to start. The main items include darts, a dartboard and a few basic accessories.

Darts

Darts are small, weighted projectiles thrown at the board.

Each dart has four main parts:

• tip (point) – the sharp end that sticks into the board

• barrel – the main body, used for grip

• shaft – connects the barrel to the flight

• flight – the fins that stabilise the dart in the air

Darts come in different weights, usually between 18g and 26g.

🎯 Dartboard

The dartboard is the target players aim for.

• made from compressed sisal fibres

• divided into 20 numbered sections

• includes double and triple scoring rings

• mounted so the bullseye is 1.73 metres high

Standard boards are used in both casual and professional play.

📏 Oche (Throw Line)

The oche is the line players must stand behind when throwing.

• placed 2.37 metres from the board

• can be marked with tape or a raised bar

🧰 Accessories

Additional equipment can improve gameplay:

dart flights – can be replaced or customised

shafts – different lengths affect flight

dart case – protects and stores darts

scoreboard – used to track points

⚖️ Choosing the Right Equipment

Beginners should look for:

• medium-weight darts (around 22–24g)

• standard dartboard

• simple setup at home

As players improve, they can customise their darts for better control and accuracy.

⚡ Why Equipment Matters

The right equipment can improve:

throwing consistency

accuracy

overall performance

Even small changes like flight shape or dart weight can affect how a dart travels.
