A lacrosse field is a large rectangular playing area with a goal at each end. The field includes several markings that control gameplay, positioning and scoring.

📐 Field Dimensions

Field size can vary slightly, but standard men’s field lacrosse dimensions are:

• length: 100 to 110 metres

• width: 55 to 60 metres

Most fields are close to:

• 110 metres long

• 60 metres wide

🥅 Goal Size

• width: 1.83 metres

• height: 1.83 metres

The goal is placed inside a circular area called the crease.

📍 Field Markings

The lacrosse field includes key markings:

• halfway line (centre of the field)

• restraining lines (control player movement)

• attack and defensive areas

• substitution box

These markings help organise play and positioning.

Crease Area

• circular area around the goal

• only the goalkeeper can stand inside it

• attackers cannot enter the crease

This protects the goalkeeper and defines scoring space.

🔄 Playing Areas

The field is divided into sections:

• attacking zone

• midfield

• defensive zone

Players move between these areas depending on their role.

⚡ Why Field Size Matters

The size of the lacrosse field affects:

• speed of play

• spacing and strategy

• player positioning

Understanding the field layout helps players move effectively and create scoring opportunities.
