Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar will be the co-owner of the Mumbai Tennis Masters, the city franchise of the Champions Tennis League (CTL), promoted by the legendary Vijay Amritraj.
P Rohit Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd, is the other co-owner of the team. Tennis great Sergi Bruguera along with Tommy Robredo and Alize Cornet will be part of Mumbai team.
The inaugural CTL will see six city-based teams play 13 matches over a ten-day period starting November 17.The teams will be divided into two groups, each having three combinations, where all teams play each other on home and away basis. The team with the highest number of games won in their respective group will play each other in the grand finale.
The Mumbai-leg will take place on November 23 and 24 at Mumbai University’s Kalina Campus.
CTL teams will feature male and female players with international rankings between No. 5 and No. 25. Each of the 6 teams will also have an international legend as their playing captain, apart from a noted Indian male player, plus a top ranked junior Indian girl and boy from each city.
